Productivity Tip of the Day… A Quick and Easy Read

Productivity Tproductive dayip of the Day:

I like to try to increase my productivity any chance that I get. One thing that I do that is very simple and helps me to get things done is this:

Before I go to bed, I write out at least 2 things that I MUST do the next day. These 2 things are usually things that I’ve been putting off, something that’s really important, or something that is closest to the money.

What I mean by closest to the money is that I try to take action on things that will help me to make money NOW. This could be something like creating ads, making a direct phone call, or writing an email that sells something that I really believe in just to name a few examples.

So Here’s What I Do To Stay Productive On A Day To Day Basis:

Before I go to bed, I’ll pick my 2 or 3 of my most important activities that I COMMIT to doing the following day. When I wake up, I know exactly what I NEED to accomplish, and I start by doing the hardest task first. I do this because if I tackle the hardest one first, I will have made a big accomplishment and the rest of my day will only get easier. This gives me plenty of motivation which leads me into a productive day.

I’ll also put 5 or 6 other things on my list that I’ll try to do if I get the time. If I don’t get to them and they are important things to get done, then I’ll put them on my list for tomorrow’s things that I MUST do.

That’s it… pretty simple huh? All it takes is a pad of paper and something to write with. Make this a habit each and every day and notice how productive you become!

To Your Massive Success,

  1. Kyle,
This is excellent advice for anyone at any age. If you know what you have planned to do for the day it keeps you in action. And, action is a close relative to results.

  2. I do the exact same thing Kyle.

For me it is a way to stay focused on the money making activities.

Plus it helps me to do those uncomfortable things.

  3. Great tip. I try to do a list for different days in advance. In that way I can plan the week out. Of course, some of the days will not be as I planned but it workds for most weeks.

  4. Kyle,

this is such a simple but powerful post! This is basically what I do anyways, but it is a great reminder and it reminds me NOT to feel guilty if I don’t get everything done on my list for the day! As long as I take care of those two or three most important things, especially if they are money-makers, then I know I’ve achieved something important in my business and I can live with that.
    Thanks for this great post!

  5. Great advice! I was at a weekend conference, and the message I heard several times was, make a list every day of 3-5 things that you want to complete. As they are completed, check them off and feel that sense of accomplisment that will keep you going.

Yes, that is KEY! You need to feel “that sense of accomplishment” to keep you moving forward. You can’t just go through life checking off lists without feeling that you accomplished something… These little lists give me a sense of accomplishment on a daily basis and I think that’s what makes this process so powerful. Thanks for the response!

  6. I agree Kyle, it helps tremendously to write down our top tasks the night before. We wake up ready to tackle the day! I like the feeling of scratching things off my list…a small taste of success everytime! lol

    • Hey Roshanda,
I think it’s so important to wake up ready to tackle the day. How you feel when you wake up can sometimes dictate your whole day! I like scratching stuff off my list too. =)

  7. I, too, love learning about and exploring new strategies, techniques and tools that help me get more done in less time (and with less stress).

I also make a short list of things I want to accomplish the following day before bedtime. Then, I say ‘no’ to get more control over my daily life and activities. For me, saying ‘no’ is the best, fastest and easiest productivity strategy, primarily because it simplifies. I feel that I get more done in an average day than most people can in a week.

  8. Great tip, Kyle!

It’s like Brian Tracy says in his book, Eat That Frog! Do the difficult thing first, and the rest of the day is easy. Not only because everything else is easy by comparison, but also because doing the thing you’ve been putting off, takes a burden off your back and you are able to move ahead more easily and quickly.

  9. Hey Kyle, I love the emphasis on doing the hardest thing first. While that may seem like a rough start to the morning, people will definitely find, as you and I have, that once that item is out of the way the sense of accomplishment carries you through the rest of the day. Great advice!

  11. That is a great tip Kyle. The most important bit for me is to choose the two most difficult activities, the ones I have been putting off. It is cheating to choose the easy ones.

  12. Kyle,

Like the idea here! I do something similar. Have a whiteboard in front of my desk. I put my goals for the following day there and then get the satisfaction of erasing it when I am finished.

  13. I do this, some of the time. However when I do remember to write those two things down they get done!

I like Andy’s idea, write them down on a white board. I have one that I don’t use hardly at all, I believe it is time to dust it off. This would be a great new purpose for it!

  14. Hi Kyle,

Many thanks for sharing your tips,on Sunday evening I usually do a weekly plan which I review just before I go to bed to keep me on schedule. But it can be a balancing trick at times , between offline and on line business. All the best Rosemary

  17. Kyle,

Very useful tip. When we think about something right before going to sleep, our subconscious mind has a chance to come up with some solutions that we might not have thought of. The next morning, when we tackle this most difficult task, it may suddenly be easier than expected.

I like your suggestion and I will try it.

  21. Hi Kyle,
You are speaking a language I understand. For me it is critically imperative that I jot those important things to do for the next day. Brian Tracy calls it Eat That Frog! I also like when you said if you don’t get everything accomplished, then put it on the list for the next day, with your Frog at the top of course. :)
Also, if you get called away for something expected, it is easy to get back on track by referring to the list you made for the day.
I can totally identify with what you are saying.
    Thanks a bunch!

This sounds like a good idea to me. I know that if I am already committed to a project that it may take some time for me to switch gears to start a new one.

I usually give my mind some time to let it sink in before I go an take action. This way helps me to overcome inner resistance.
